Pastoral Care may mean many things, but it is led by Jesus’ overarching command to “Love on another”. That is to look after each another – to watch over one another in love, just as any caring family does. Pastoral Care is not only an expression of love and respect for one another but also an expression of the particular gifts that we have been given by the Holy Spirit.
As Ken Lawson writes in his book “Caring for God’s People”- “caring is the essence of the Gospel. When we offer a listening, accepting, open, non-judgemental relationship, we model Him whom we follow”.
