Sing for Easter

We are hoping to record a song for Easter with as many people from the church as possible in it. It does not matter if you sing in a choir or simply make “a joyful noise unto the Lord”, it will just be nice to hear and see as many people as possible! Please also don’t feel self conscious about your video as will only be a small window in the final song that we aim to use in our Easter services. The song we are going to sing is “Oh, to see the dawn” (Mission Praise 1217).
It is probably best to listen to the base recording and sing along with the words before setting anything up. Once ready it will be easiest for us if you can listen to the base track through headphones (so we only get your singing on the track) and use a separate device to record a video of you singing. Most laptops will let you see the words while recording video whilst you listen to the base track on your phone. You may however find it easier to just play the base video on your computer and use your phone to record your singing – your choice, have a play with what works for you. It is helpful for us to have all the videos in landscape so if using a phone please put it on it’s side so the width is longer than the height.

Once done, send your recordings to johnd@standrewsleckie.co.uk using https://wetransfer.com/ or any other way you can think of – remember that most videos are normally too big to attach to emails. In sending us a video you agree for it it be used in our church services that are broadcast on youtube. Still images of the final video may also be used in our Psalm magazine and/or other publicly. If you have any concerns or wish us just to use the audio, please contact us before sending your video. To give us time to put it all together, please send us your videos by end of Monday 29th March Thanks.

The base Video

It is probably easiest to sing along to the video (make full screen) or if you prefer use the audio and words separately.

The base track

This is the base recording by Dave Laurenson to sing along to.

The words

Oh, to see the dawn of the darkest day:
Christ on the road to Calvary.
Tried by sinful men, torn and beaten, then
Nailed to a cross of wood.

This, the power of the cross:
Christ became sin for us.
Took the blame, bore the wrath –
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Oh, to see the pain written on Your face,
Bearing the awesome weight of sin.
Every bitter thought, every evil deed
Crowning Your bloodstained brow.

This, the power of the cross:
Christ became sin for us.
Took the blame, bore the wrath –
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Now the daylight flees, now the ground beneath
Quakes as its Maker bows His head.
Curtain torn in two, dead are raised to life;
‘Finished!’ the victory cry.

This, the power of the cross:
Christ became sin for us.
Took the blame, bore the wrath –
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Oh, to see my name written in the wounds,
For through Your suffering I am free.
Death is crushed to death, life is mine to live,
Won through Your selfless love.

This, the power of the cross:
Son of God slain for us.
What a love! What a cost!
We stand forgiven at the cross.
