How the queen moves
The queen can move anywhere in a straight line. It may move like a rook or like a bishop. It may move  any number of squares unless there is something in the way. The queen is the most powerful piece on the chessboard.
The queen has moved to a5 so we write Qa5. The red lines show where it can move next. It cannot move past the knight on c3 but it can capture the knight. In the next picture we see that the queen has captured the knight on c3 so we write Qxc3.  "xc3" means that somethinghas been captured on c3
